I was JOKING, Ohio!
Yesterday I wrote these two tweets:
“Weather is freaking beautiful out today. Too bad no outdoor swimming pools open in this state until mid-May.
“Not that I blame them. It could be 45 degrees next week for all we know.”
This was before I had checked the weather forecast for the next few days for the Cleveland area:
Apr 17 Tomorrow
Windy. Mostly cloudy with a few showers in the morning. High...

"Cleveland" by Luke Doucet And White Falcon →
Follow the link to listen to the song. Here are the lyrics. I think I’ve found my new favorite song!
CLEVELAND
I walked through Cleveland till my feet were black. It only took ten minutes then I was back in this hotel room trying to write this song. I met a little white man, he said he played guitar. His wife’s in jail and that broke my heart (the stories you hear when you’d...

So much for the Metroparks
It might have been naive of me to think that our hike and bike trail near my office would be cleared. But when I peered into the entrance of that stretch of the Metroparks (the crown jewel of the state the Ohio die-hards so loooove to tout) all I saw was clear pavement.
And today is really the nicest day we’ve seen since, what, November? I really wanted to put my hating aside for a day and...
Commercial real estate's challenges are apparent...
ohiotop:
To see the turmoil in commercial real estate, you don’t have to look much further than East Ninth Street and Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland. Signs plastered on an empty office building at 1717 E. Ninth St. advertise an Internet real estate auction. The 21-story KeyBank Center, across the street, recently passed from the owner to the lender. A few blocks away, the historic Arcade...

Ohio = Akron?
Why is www.ohio.com the Web site for the Akron Beacon Journal? On what planet is Akron representative of all of Ohio? It isn’t our biggest city; it isn’t our capital. What gives?
For nearly every other state, such a coveted URL is reserved for statewide organizations, mostly promoting tourism or providing visitor information.

Cuyahoga County Port Authority snoozes and loses...
ohiotop:
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Millions of federal stimulus dollars poured into competing Great Lakes ports over the last year, but the financially troubled Port of Cleveland missed the boat. The reason: Officials at the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority asked for only one stimulus grant — $45 million to buy and retrofit a container cargo ship — and received not a dime. And they applied for...

Ohio lands five of the top 20 in Forbes’ list of most miserable cities in America, including Cleveland at No. 1.
My thoughts exactly. How timely that I signed up for this blog just a couple days before the article’s release.
