Why is www.ohio.com the Web site for the Akron Beacon Journal? On what planet is Akron representative of all of Ohio? It isn’t our biggest city; it isn’t our capital. What gives?

For nearly every other state, such a coveted URL is reserved for statewide organizations, mostly promoting tourism or providing visitor information.

The Akron Beacon Journal is like those annoying forum trolls who type “First!” on popular comment boards as soon as there is a fresh post. Just because you got to the Ohio.com URL first doesn’t make you special, ABJ.

But I guess it makes sense. How else would you drive traffic to your site if you weren’t tricking your audience?
